Getting There

How do I get to Galapagos?

Travel to the Galapagos National Park is a two step process. Step 1 is the international component from your home city to Ecuador, and Step 2 is the domestic component internally from Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands.

Step 1: International Component - There are two international airports in Ecuador: Guayaquil and Quito. Each is accessible every day of the week from several US gateway cities including Miami , Houston and New York. From
Europe, flights to Ecuador leave from London, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt and all include at least one layover. Unfortunately, the arrival of incoming international flights do not connect with the domestic flights, so an overnight hotel stay is required in either city.

Guayaquil is the preferred airport if you are "passing through" as it offers Sky Dancer guests lower priced domestic air plus has more favorable flight times (you can sleep in more). What Guayaquil does not offer is many choices for pre or post trip activities. Quito on the other hand offers a vast array of pre or post trip excursions. However, its domestic flights are more expensive and it is at a high altitude.

TRAVEL TIP:
If you are booked on connecting flights in the domestic United States , we highly recommend that you re-check your luggage at your international gateway city before boarding the flight to Ecuador.

If you need assistance with your flight arrangements, be sure to contact Dive Easy Travel, Peter Hughes Diving's travel specialists; at 1-800-9DANCER or 305-669-9391 for the most competitive air fares.

Step 2: Domestic Component - There are flights from either Guayaquil or Quito to the Galapagos Islands daily. All flights originate in Quito then travel to Guayaquil then to the Galapagos Islands. On the return the route reversed stopping in Guayaquil first then on to Quito. Peter Hughes Diving, Inc. will arrange these flights for you. On the day of embarkation, please be at the airport (Guayaquil or Quito) at least TWO HOURS prior to departure for check-in. Please meet our representative from Ecoventura next to the airline ticket counter.

Notice Regarding Domestic Air Fares:
Domestic air tickets are not purchased by the ground operators until approximately 1 week before your departure. As such, it is possible that the price of your domestic flight may change from the date you make your final payment to PHD and your actual trip. If this is the case- PHD will make best efforts to notify you in advance. The difference in airfare would then be added to your on board tab that will be settled at the end of your trip.
